Board of Trustees

Leeds Vineyard operates under the umbrella charitable trust of The Wharfedale Vineyard (as do Harrogate Vineyard, Sheffield Vineyard and Bradford Vineyard). The Wharfedale Vineyard is constituted as a limited company and as a charity. As such it is controlled by a board made up of people who are both trustees and directors. The church reports to the Charity Commission and to Companies House. Our charity number is 1071353 and our company number is 3549120.

With the exception of the founding pastor and the company secretary, the members of the board are appointed on an unpaid and rotational basis, usually serving for several years. They provide governance for all four churches (Leeds, Harrogate, Sheffield and Bradford).

Currently the board is made up of:

Anne Button (Company Secretary)

Anne is one of our Assistant Pastors and covers governance and finance.
Anne is currently on maternity leave (2018-2019) with cover provided by Sally Lingham who is also an Assistant Pastor. 

Mike Byde (Chair)

Mike is a Senior Manager at the University of Leeds.

Alex Holt (Trustee with specific responsibility for Vineyard House)

Alex is an associate technical director for an environmental consultancy firm. 

David Bratley (Trustee with responsibility for finance)

David is a chartered accountant working in Leeds.

David Flowers (Founding Pastor & Trustee)

David is the (Co-) Senior Pastor and a director of Flowers McEwan Ltd, a small firm of independent financial advisers based in Leeds.

Elizabeth Hawkhead (Trustee with responsibility for the Child Contact Centre)

Elizabeth is a family lawyer in practice locally.

Jon Grayson (Trustee with responsibility for risk management)

Jon is a senior manager working with G4S. His expertise is in Risk, Governance & Project Management.

Steve Nixon (Trustee with responsibility for capital expenditure and looking after our "assets")

Steve is a Legal Director at a national law firm, specialising in Real Estate. He brings commercial and contract expertise to the board.

Tim Steere (Trustee with responsibility for HR/looking after people)

Tim is Head of Customer and Intermediary Insight for a Building Society.
