Leeds Vineyard

VH STEPS Banner v2

In 2017 the church community gave sacrificially, generously, staggeringly – over £300,000 - which enabled us to buy Vineyard House. It may not be a "ruin" but it is definitely in need of rebuilding, repair and restoration! Our theme was from Isaiah 61:4a:

“They will rebuild the ancient ruins and restore the places long devastated.”

The Lord clearly guided us to step out in faith and “sell all we had in order to buy the hidden treasure” (Matthew 13:44). So we now own the building and have begun to use it. We sowed generously and we reaped generously.

In 2019 - we believe that God has given us something spectacular and influential to do in and through Vineyard House. A kingdom endeavour which will transform the community in Headingley. The next phase of Vineyard House STEPS is to renovate and restore the building.

Our vision is for a beautiful and sensitive restoration providing state of the art resources with which the church can reach out into the community.

As we have said from the beginning, this is a “million-pound miracle project” so we have been hugely encouraged by a timely reminder:
“Depend on it. God's work done in God's way will never lack God's supply. He is too wise a God to frustrate His purposes for lack of funds, and He can just as easily supply them ahead of time as afterwards, and He much prefers doing so.” Hudson Taylor.

On Sunday 19 May we launched STEPS 2019 - to sow for a harvest once again.

In 2 Corinthians 9:6-15 Paul encourages us to be generous, "Remember this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. As it is written: ‘They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor; their righteousness endures for ever.’
Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness.  You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.
This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of the Lord’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God. Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, others will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else. And in their prayers for you their hearts will go out to you, because of the surpassing grace God has given you. Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!"

Although we will be raising the funds to renovate Vineyard House from many sources this is, at source, a Vineyard project and so we are starting this phase by giving the family of the church the first chance to "sow into the vision". Then we can demonstrate to third parties that we are committed, body and soul, to the renovation and restoration of this building in order to reach out to the community: we have primed the pump; the seed has been planted and a harvest is promised.

You can listen to the stories and prayers and vision on the podcast below.

On Sunday 9 June we will have a Harvest Service of Thanksgiving

Yes, we know it is not the right time for an agricultural harvest but this is the time when everyone is invited to bring their offering to weekly worship and join in with a great thanksgiving for all ages at what God has done and will do. Bring your pledge cards or gifts, ensure that the children can join in too.

In 2017 we sowed generously and we reaped generously. Now, in 2019 we have the opportunity to do so again. Some will want to give once more, some were unable to give last time and would love to do so now. Many, many of you have arrived in the last two years and want the chance to get in on this “million pound miracle”!

If you are unable to join us on Sunday 9 June but would like to be part of this harvest, please email giving@leedsvineyard.org with an explanation of what you would like to do or post your pledge card to the office (FAO: Anne Button, Vineyard House, Bennett Road, LS6 3HN). If you prefer you can give through Stewardship or give.net or other charity accounts - just use the reference "STEPS".
