Leeds Vineyard

Church Planting

Jesus said: “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations …” (Matthew 28:18-19). In the Vineyard we put this into practice by planting churches because we believe that this is one of the best ways to introduce people to Jesus. Sharing the good news about Jesus in the context of a new church family often reaches parts of our society that more established churches find more difficult.

By “planting churches” we mean that having identified people who have received a calling from God we send them into new places and new settings to gather new people together into new communities of faith. The goal is for those communities to turn into healthy, fully functioning churches which in turn will go on to plant healthy churches.

We are part of a global church-planting movement. Leeds Vineyard was planted out of SW London Vineyard in 1998 (which was planted out of Anaheim Vineyard in California in 1987). We in turn have sent people out to plant new churches:

Harrogate Vineyard
Nik & Maggie Gee planted out from Leeds Vineyard in January 2012.

Sheffield Vineyard
Alex & Karen Griffin planted out from Leeds Vineyard in July 2012.

Edinburgh Vineyard
Ben & Kate Newman planted out from Leeds Vineyard in September 2017.

Bradford Vineyard
Ian & Hannah Ripping planted out from Leeds Vineyard in January 2018. After five years of serving their community and establishing an amazing Grow Baby ministry the time came for Ian and Hannah to move onto a different stage of their lives.
